I am currently working on a project for one of my classes. I need to have a list of video, photography and music trade organizations. I have several such as the RIAA, MPAA and BMI, but by no means all.

i have to make a catalog from the late 1800s and i themed it on the first video cameras, and photography going from black and white to color. is there a specific name of a category like that?

Do NOT include video or colour in your catalog.

They were not around then (except for experimental stills — by James Clerk Maxwell in 1861.)

First commercial colour was actually available in1936 and became popular during World War II

video did not show up until Louis Parker invented and patented the modern changeable television receiver in 1948.

What is it called when you’re trying to achieve or possess an original photograph or video of a specific decade lsuch as a 70s look in photography or video/film industries. I guess it has to do with lighting which changes in technology as time progresses. For example, I would like my video to have a 70s look with the lighting.

On Craigslist you would want to post an ad under "gigs" for a photographer. Be specific as to the date and time, how much time is expected, etc. They also have an "items wanted" section for the rest of it.

In terms of still photography, Sony Ericsson K-800 matches (or surpasses) Nokia N 93. The K-800 is a 3.15 megapixel phone, but it’s video quality is average, at best. The upcoming Nokia N 95 will be a 5.0 megapixel phone, becoming the best camera phone in the market.

In terms of video photography, N 93 is still the best because it’s the only phone (that I know of) that has optical zoom. However, the sound of zooming in and out during a video shoot is recorded along with the video image.

I prefer events that are relatively recent, like in the last 50 years (i.e. Chernobyl incident, Munich massacre), where media either played a role, or influenced its reception/how people looked at the event. Specific events appreciated… Thanks. I’m all out of ideas here.

The media plays a far bigger part than you realise ! Beware !

A lot will depend on your location… New York will be more expensive than Las Vegas – If you live in a larger city… you might consider getting a photographer from out in the Burbs – that will drive into the city… In the Austin TX area – $2200 is about average for an experenced / dependable photograher or team… Below $1500 may not have all the experence / equipment / reputation etc… Good luck -

I have to take portraits of people for my assignment and I want to learn different lighting techniques to get the best possible portraits with different lighting.

A company by the name of Calumet used to have some excellent tutorials that can be had for free on a CD and occasionally at their website – - and while they use the session to trumpet their own brands of lighting equipment you can easily improvise and create very similar results using other fixtures in the same lighting setups. Contact Calumetphoto.com and see if they can send you one of their CD’s containing the sessions.
