There isn’t much difference between high definition videography and standard definition videography.

Hidef uses 4x more data which is why it is crisp and clear.

What are you wanting to learn about? The technical aspects or the creative side? Do you want to learn the difference between HDV and AVCHD? How to take advantage of MP4 file types?

Entry level film and photography courses and books will teach about the "rule of thirds" for framing a shot. Camera angles, zoom, aperture, iris, microphones and all the other "basics" should probably be learned first…

Story-boarding, script writing, and all that comes in another group of information.

Audio, sound design, mic types and when to use them, and foley comes in another group of information.

Makeup, wardrobe, and that sort of stuff is in another group…

There is a whole lot more, but this is all about film and videography in general – what are you looking for that makes HD so special?

I’m 17 and won first place at the Technology Student Association’s National Conference in Chicago this past summer in Cyberspace Challenge (making a web-site)

Someone experienced can use a program which uses HTML code like dreamweaver, but someone who is looking to build a site for a small company can use a online website builder like… "www.freewebs.com" to create the site then pay like 10 bucks a year for the URL "www.bobsvideography.com"

it is sooo simple to use, and if not then you might want to find a myspace using teenager like myself locally to help you out.

"videography" just means making videos, the same way that "photography" means making photos.

If you want to become a videographer, get the best photo equipment you can afford and start shooting. Stills, movies, black & white … whatever you feel like doing, just get out there and do it. Take any photography classes that your school offers. Read books about video and photo techniques. Talk to your teachers or counselors at school and see what classes they recommend. You should probably take a lot of art classes to get a feel for what works visually. Color and design sense will be important skills to develop.

I live in Glendale and I own a Canon XTI and a Sony Handcam. I already have a degree in broadcasting and film and want to just explore what is new out there since 1998. But I seem to run into either to basic a class or waitlists for the once I am interested in. Any ideas?

GCC has classes in both beginning and digital photography. Kermit Lee is the instructor for the digital class.

This semester he has a night class in film photography on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

I’m starting a videography business (Weddings, parties, etc.) and have never bought a professional camcorder. I don’t know what to look for and would like some help on picking out the best one for not only a beginner like myself, but someone who is on a bit of a budget. (Nothing more than 2,000$)

I’ve seen plenty of magazines about cameras and photography but I haven’t been able to find any about camcorders and/or cinematography.
